Onboarding · Cashiest, Neo Bank

Onboarding that gets users to their first transaction.

A neobank lives or dies on its onboarding. We revamped Cashiest's sign-up flow to move new users from download to first transaction with less friction and more trust.

Overview

Cashiest had a great product behind a wall of friction — every step of onboarding was costing them users.

Banking onboarding is a trust problem disguised as a flow problem. Users were dropping off at verification, confused by jargon, and unsure their money was safe. We mapped every step, removed what didn't need to be there, and reordered the rest so users saw value before they saw paperwork.

The result was an onboarding that felt less like a form and more like being walked into the bank — clear progress, honest trust signals, and a first-transaction moment users actually reached.

Key Deliverables
01

Simplified Onboarding Flow

Cut redundant steps and grouped information so users got from download to done in far fewer screens.

02

Progressive Trust Design

Security signals placed exactly where users hesitate — at identity verification and first deposit — not crammed into a compliance wall.

03

Plain-Language Rewrites

Banking jargon replaced with copy that explains each step in words people already know.

04

First-Transaction Moment

Designed a clear celebration moment when the account is active, so users feel the win and come back.

Results & Impact

Higher onboarding completion

Fewer steps and clearer trust signals meant more users finished what they started.

Less verification drop-off

Trust design at the exact hesitation points kept users moving through identity checks.

Faster to first transaction

Users reached their first real banking moment sooner — the behavior that actually matters.

Cleaner base for growth

A documented flow the team could iterate on, instead of a fragile one-off.

Design & Approach

We treated onboarding as a product, not a form. Every screen had one job and one question answered, and we measured success by one number: did users reach their first transaction?

Trust was designed, not assumed — verification steps came with reassurance, progress stayed visible, and nothing felt like it was hiding a fee or a trap.
